This carpet belongs to the group of Nain carpets, which are considered the best and finest Persian carpets worldwide. The reason for this is the particularly high knot density and the exceptionally fine cork wool, which is taken from the soft neck area when the sheep are first sheared. This makes the wool very greasy and correspondingly dirt-repellent. The thin threads are typically knotted into floral patterns with a pronounced central medallion, as can be seen here.
