The city of Mashad is known for its very large rug production, which is located in the Khorasan region where the city is situated. The wool used in this region is among the best in the country and gives the rugs from Mashad a particularly soft feel. The dominant colours are dark red, blue and khaki, while floral patterns in most cases frame a central medallion.
